We are a bespoke shoe atelier, based in Berlin. Our mission is bring the age-old techniques we have learned from Europe’s best in Vienna, London and Florence into the now: through contemporary yet classic design and constant innovation. Working with the highest-quality and sustainably sourced leather, we produce solely in our Berlin workshop, by hand, without any electric machines. Our shoes take a minimum of six months to make- why? Because we build them to last a lifetime.
At the first appointment, we take a number of detailed measurements from the client’s feet. We use these measurements to create the last upon which the shoe will be built, sculpted by hand in beech wood. Aside from taking the measurements, this meeting creates space to exchange ideas, design references and personal preferences that we will incorporate into the design of the shoe.
Based on all of those informations, a fitting shoe is created. It is a very basic version of the final shoe to visualize and optimize: its look but most importantly its fit and feel. In this second meeting, the client can wear and walk in it as we make all necessary adjustments to avoid even the slightest pressure points. Sometimes it takes up to three pairs of fitting shoes until it’s exactly what we want it to be.
After having agreed on all changes, we move forward in building the final shoe with the utmost dedication in our workshop here in Berlin.
We create bespoke shoes that preserve the age-old techniques we have studied at the most sublime traditional houses in Europe and merge them with contemporary design. Creating timeless pieces that last a lifetime is at the heart of what we do at KLH. We create everything from the lasts to the final shoes in our workshop in Berlin, without any electric machines and purely by hand. Our close collaboration with the most distinguished tanneries allows us to offer the finest leathers, sustainably sourced.
